2007 - 2008 PD Plan
The PD for 2007 reflects the feedback from participants in 2006. The PD program for each course will be tailored to meet the needs of teachers in that course. This includes the provision of specific support materials and resources.
Dates for the PD have been scheduled to minimise disruption to schools. Most coincide with school development days and are spaced to enable teachers to collaborate with their colleagues between sessions.
Teachers intending to teach the courses listed below in 2008 are strongly encouraged to participate in the PD.
Phase 2 TEE Aligned courses:
Accounting and Finance; Biological Sciences; Chemistry; Computer Science; Drama; Geography; History: Ancient and Modern; Human Biological Science; Literature; Music; Physics; Politics and Law; Visual Arts.
Phase 3 courses:
Aboriginal and Intercultural Studies; Agriculture; Australian Indigenous Languages; Automotive Engineering and Technology; Building and Construction; Business Management and Enterprise; Career and Enterprise; Children, Family and the Community; Dance; Economics; Food, Science and Technology; Health Studies; Integrated Science; LOTE: Second Language; Marine and Maritime Technology; Materials Design and Technology; Mathematics; Philosophy and Ethics; Psychology; Recreational and Environmental Studies; Religion and Life; Visual Communication Design.
The Curriculum Council PD in 2007-8 will include:
a. initial awareness sessions explaining the course syllabus, sample exam and assessment directions (early 2007)
b. two full days examining planning and assessment practices (2007)
c. two full days incorporating a strong focus on assessment (2008)
d. online modules (2007-8)
e. ongoing assessment seminars and consensus meetings.
This PD will be supplemented by further opportunities available through sector/systems, regional networks, professional associations and universities.

Note: Please be aware that AISWA and CEO have made the decision to move the scheduled AISWA/CEO PD day on April 23 to the scheduled DET PD day on June 1.
For independent schools that cannot release teachers to attend June 1, the Curriculum Council and AISWA will collaborate to provide alternative arrangements. Final details of these arrangements will be communicated through AISWA.
