Top students for 2007
Neil Thomas of Wesley College and Michelle Kite of Corpus Christi College are the winners of the State’s highest educational honour, the Beazley Medal.
Education and Training Minister Mark McGowan announced the winners on Sunday, 30 December.
Neil Thomas was the winner of the Beazley Medal: TEE and achieved a Curriculum Council award score of 99.08. The winning score in 2006 was 98.69, 97.79 in 2005 and 95.67 in 2004.

Neil scored scaled marks of 99.39 in Applicable Mathematics, 99.16 in Calculus, 100 in Economics, 100 in English Literature and 96.87 in Physics. He won a Subject Exhibition in Economics, a Certificate of Distinction in Applicable Mathematics, Economics, English Literature and Physics. He also won a Certificate of Excellence.
Neil is planning to undertake a double degree in Law and Arts next year. His career goals could include law or politics.
Michelle Kite was the winner of the Beazley Medal: VET and achieved 11 A grades in Year 11 and 12 courses, a Certificate of Excellence and a Certificate II in Business.
Michelle is still deciding whether to apply for university or TAFE next year, or to go straight into the workforce.
Mr McGowan said all students who had won a Curriculum Council award should be pleased with their achievements.
Almost 1000 Curriculum Council Awards will be presented to more than 700 students from schools across the State at the Curriculum Council Awards Presentation Ceremony on Tuesday, February 12, 2008.
